Job Description:

We’re looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to:

·         Work with senior management to develop business cases for new menu items

·         Analyze results of products during the test and post-launch phase

·         Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns

·         Prepare reports on menu mix, pricing sensitivities, customer satisfaction, and other ad-hoc requests as needed

·         Assist budgeting/forecasting team with translating menu/marketing opportunities into financial statements

·         Prepare routine financial reports

 

Main Focus:

·         You will work closely with senior management across key areas of the organization to support the development of strategic initiatives, particularly those related to marketing and menu development.  You will create and deliver reporting on the financial impact of these initiatives and assist in making recommendations on system-wide roll-out, and will monitor the impact of new products on the business post-launch.  You will work closely with the SVP Marketing and Regional Marketing Managers to measure the success of marketing initiatives in each of our key markets, and to identify opportunities to improve business performance.  Additionally, you will prepare certain routine reports for distribution to business leaders and will assist in other projects as necessary.

·         You will report to the Senior Manager of Operations Analysis in the Finance Department.  You will participate and sometimes present topical information at Finance Team Meetings and will assist in preparing materials for Board meetings, internal business review meetings and investor meetings. Your work should be executive level quality and presentation ready.

·         As necessary, you will provide support of IT initiatives to upgrade automated reports, implement new software packages and processes, and validate data in legacy systems as needed.  In doing so, you will ensure needs of Finance and Accounting are met through involvement in the initial design reviews of software specifications, and will be responsible for thorough software and data integrity validation.  You will assist in the design and implementation of improved analytical and planning tools.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND BEHAVIORS

·         Minimum of 5 years of finance/accounting or related experience

·         Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.  MBA or equivalent preferred, but not required.

·         Solid computer aptitude with ability to efficiently analyze large amounts of data using Excel as well as experience with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tools such as ProClarity, Great Plains, FRx, Hyperion, or other similar financial systems. 

·         High energy level and natural curiosity, with a strong desire to learn

·         Excellent problem solving, project management and analytical skills  

·         Ability to learn new software and manage high amounts of data through excellent computer skills 

·         Experience base working with other functional areas in a team environment and ability to provide financial and business counsel to other areas of the organization

·         Experience with restaurant industry or retail with multi-location business is strongly preferred

Job Description:

The HR Specialist /Manager, Compensation and Benefits takes an active role in the support, administration and compliance of all company compensation and benefit programs. He or she supports and follows up on the execution of new compensation & benefit initiatives and programs. He or she responds to and manages employee issues. This position also assists in the development and implementation of compensation & benefit strategies for the company to help attract, motivate and retain top talent.

RESPONSIBILITIES
·            Assist in development of new and existing compensation and benefits communications
·            Assist in developing compensation and benefit procedures by monitoring changes in Federal, state, and local laws
·            Conduct and participate in salary surveys as requested, and interpret salary data and perform requested analyses
·            Process and calculate Store quarterly bonus payments
·            Prepare compensation reports and analyses as requested
·            Assist other team members in the administration of company benefits programs that may include medical, dental, rx, vision, life/ad&d, voluntary life, long-term disability, 401(k) and PTO    
·            Update and maintain data in the HRIS vendor databases
·            Provide compensation and benefits customer service (i.e., answer inquiries, assist in problem resolution, provide necessary forms, process changes etc.)
·            Prepare annual Total Rewards statements and participate in annual stock option grant process
·            Assist HR Benefits team in coordination of annual benefits open enrollment including but not limited to: participating in renewal meetings with broker, preparing communications, providing training, ensuring accurate and timely data transmittal to HRIS and carriers, etc.
·            Audit and reconcile invoices and ensure prompt payment
·            Review and assess compensation and benefits programs and technologies and benchmark against external best practices
·            Other projects as assigned

The  Zone Human Resources Manager is responsible for achieving great people results in turnover, selection, staffing, and cultural leadership. He or she will lead and consult the Zone Management on employee relation issues and talent management. The Zone HR Manager will own succession planning. The Zone HR Manager will manage the selection and staffing efforts of the Zone Recruiting Manager. This position will support all Potbelly new and existing stores located in the Chicagoland area, including Indiana, Wisconsin and Southern Illinois.

Employee Relations

  • Provides strategic coaching and mentoring to the Zone Manager, District Managers and Managers on employee relations issues including employee development, performance management and employee morale.
  • Manages and responds to employee relations issues to avoid or minimize charges and litigation.
  • Manages and responds to employee relations issues to avoid or minimize charges and litigation.
  • Drives reward and recognition programs and develops, maintains and coordinates field reward and retentions programs.
  • Is front- line focused and leads as Champion of the Potbelly Culture.
  • Analyzes exit interview data, and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement in the operation.

Staffing, Development and Succession Planning

  • Understands the staffing marketplace. Responsible for maintaining high standards for candidate selection and for maintaining proper store staffing levels. Drives staffing model compliance through coaching and advising DMs and Managers.
  • Manages and partners with Zone Recruiting Manager, providing clear direction and communication regarding staffing needs in the Zone.
  • Create and enforce a plan to reduce employee turnover.
  • Owns succession planning. Participates in monthly Zone meetings and District Manager one-on-one meetings to assess talent management needs, to develop succession planning plan and to update the monthly Zone Staffing Plan report.
  • Drives the internal management development process. Is the performance coach for District Managers, General Managers and Assistant Managers.
  • Accountable for attaining great people results and raising the bar on performance.
  • Will be measured by goals for turnover results, staffing and succession planning bench results.

HR Processes

  • Manages the annual merit review process for the zone.
  • Provides guidance on compensation in accordance to company compensation guidelines and delivers compensation and benefits programs to the operation.
  • Partners with associates and management teams to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  • Facilitates and provides training to Associates, Managers and DMs on HR related topics.
  • Helps to develop HR processes to achieve great people results and financial results.

Education, Behaviors and Experience

The Zone Marketing Manager (ZMM) is our geographical customer expert playing a key role in increasing brand awareness and driving our business on the regional and local level. ZMMs are the link between the Support Center organization and the regional teams to reach customers in personal, memorable and meaningful ways, while building the Potbelly brand, and while profitably developing and driving sales building programs with their Operations team. The ZMM will know the market and its sales results, customers and competition. He or she will execute event programs. Success in this role will be measured by Balanced Scorecard Sales and by other areas such as shop improvements and shop grand opening results.

Drives Sales Profitability.
Develop and manage media campaigns to effectively reach our target audience in each market
  • Work with the Director of Field Marketing and the assigned media agencies to evaluate media recommendations
  • Evaluate media-related expenses to determine whether it drove incremental entrée counts and profitability
  • Execute the brand promotional calendar at the market and shop level
· Support the promotional calendar via media and market-level activities
