Field Marketing Position for Texas and Minnesota!

Job Description:

The Zone Marketing Manager (ZMM) is our geographical customer expert playing a key role in increasing brand awareness and driving our business on the regional and local level. ZMMs are the link between the Support Center organization and the regional teams to reach customers in personal, memorable and meaningful ways, while building the Potbelly brand, and while profitably developing and driving sales building programs with their Operations team. The ZMM will know the market and its sales results, customers and competition. He or she will execute event programs. Success in this role will be measured by Balanced Scorecard Sales and by other areas such as shop improvements and shop grand opening results.

Drives Sales Profitability.
Develop and manage media campaigns to effectively reach our target audience in each market
  • Work with the Director of Field Marketing and the assigned media agencies to evaluate media recommendations
  • Evaluate media-related expenses to determine whether it drove incremental entrée counts and profitability
  • Execute the brand promotional calendar at the market and shop level
· Support the promotional calendar via media and market-level activities
· Communicate the relevance of the promotional calendar to operations to ensure shop-level execution
  • Develop and manage shop-level marketing plans and budgets to address specific issues
· Develop, execute and evaluate “year one” marketing plan for new shops
· Develop and execute an action plan for under-performing shops, as identified by the Zone Manager
 
Manage event marketing programs by executing market-wide events and coaching GMs on shop-level events.
  • Identify, develop and execute market-wide events and activities that embody the neighborhood sandwich shop and drive traffic to our shops
  • Prioritize marketing activities based on effectiveness and budget
  • Identify and develop marketing activities and tools against key segments to shops drive frequency and sales
  • Coach and train DMs and GMs to develop, execute and evaluate an annual shop-level marketing plan that embodies the neighborhood sandwich shop

Knowing your market.
 
  • Identify the optimal periods to advertise in each market
  • Identify specific market conditions that may affect the marketing plan and/or promotional calendar
  • Identify market-wide activities in each market that are meaningful to our customers
  • Identify and understand shop and geographical segments for assigned markets
  • Coach DMs and GMs on evaluating and executing shop-level activities
  • Monitor the competitive activity and offerings in each market

Essential Physical Functions

§Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 50 to 55 hours a week.
§ Must be able to spend 20-30% of time travelling, and 50% of time in market/shops.
§ Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
§ Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
§ Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music, customer and employee traffic.
§ Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
§ Ability to set goals (Sales, Profits, Mystery Shop, Turnover, Food cost) for each shop and drive change through coaching and holding employees accountable.
§ Must be able to engage in problem-solving skills to help identify and solve potential issues in the field.
 
Experience, Education and Behavior
 
Must be able to communicate heavily with employees and Support Center through telephone, e-mail and in-person

 

§ Must represent the Potbelly Atvantage and Our Values
§ At least 5 years of marketing experience and a BA degree, preferably in Marketing or a related subject
§ Experience in field marketing/event marketing and/or restaurant/retail industry experience is highly desired.
§ Must live in the trade area with the ability to travel and transportation by which to travel to the various Potbelly locations and trade areas.
§ Must be willing to work non-traditional hours.
§ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
§ A natural leader and teacher.
§ Ability and desire to work with minimal guidance; strong initiative.
§ Outgoing, enthusiastic and fun.
§ Strong written and oral communication skills.
§ Detail oriented.
§ Must have basic Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint skills.
